Grand Canyon Railroad

If you decide to take the Grand Canyon Railway from Williams, AZ to visit the Grand Canyon, first check out the other passengers in your train car. We had the misfortune to sit in the “Chuckie Cheese” coach car on the way up to the Grand Canyon. Loud, obnoxious children were running rampant. Even their parents were talking during the train attendant’s speech about visiting the Grand Canyon. It was a nightmare! If you manage to get stuck in such a train car, ask to be seated in another car or hang out in the snack car. The Grand Canyon itself is pretty interesting, although there’s not a heck of a lot to do unless you like to hike. The two best things about the Grand Canyon are the free shuttle buses run by the National Park Service, and the elks eating the lawn of the El Tovar Hotel after dark.
